FUSION is a small husband and wife practice committed to achieving architectural and interior design of the highest quality, and implementing those ideas into the built form with buildings that are beautiful, energy efficient, comfortable, and truly safe.

We are passionate about creating spaces that people enjoy being in. Our original goal with FUSION was to fuse our client's aesthetic and stylistic tastes, their budgetary and fiduciary needs, and their spatial and lifestyle needs-with practical, energy efficient, sustainable, and security oriented solutions that reflect the client and protect them in an increasingly unstable world.

That goal has never changed, and our passion has only grown. By designing solutions that enhance aesthetic goals, that improve building performance, that promote occupant health and safety while limiting resource consumption, we are doing our part to create an increasingly self sufficient and less vulnerable future.

Again, FUSION exists to serve its clients. We engage in a very collaborative and consultative process with the client and builders or tradesmen to ensure that we have asked enough of the right questions, that we have understood what the challenges are, and to make sure that all parties involved have their goals aligned. Some higher-brow firms call the process "architecture-by-team", but we just call it “serving the client”. By insisting on engaging our clients in the design process, along with other involved design and building professionals, we are able to develop highly refined and unique projects that truly reflect the character and lifestyles of our clients.

It is a fact that the architectural record is the most accurate, longest lasting record of mankind and his activities that there is. We realize that no matter how well we craft a building to suit its owners like a glove, buildings typically outlast their owners, and as such need to be designed with flexibility and consideration for future generations. This includes aesthetic considerations, flexible space planning that allow for future uses and conversions, and allowing for efficient and effective technological upgrades—all while remaining true to our design principles and proven regional solutions.

We at FUSION live and work in central Ohio, the “heart of it all”, and use the cultural and architectural heritage of our region as a platform for all that we create. Examining the historic architectural source and diffusion routes, we see that Ohio was uniquely situated to be flooded with a wide range of architectural styles and building types. French Canadians coming down the St. Lawrence Seaway, New Englanders heading west, and soldiers and settlers from the Mid-Atlantic searching for a better life all brought the architectural influences of their original regions with them—much to Ohio’s benefit. We were not only able to witness and learn first hand about multiple solutions to geographic and climatic challenges, and we have the remaining built record to continue to learn from.

Ohio continues to be just as challenging as ever to design for and build in. We experience extreme cold and damp in the winter, extreme heat and humidity in the summer, and at times, seasonally extreme water levels in many areas. As such, we absolutely have to implement innovative design strategies, superior building practices, and flawless weatherization details.
